Her Majesty’s Consul in Cairo and the consular team are here to look after the interests of British nationals (and some unrepresented Commonwealth nationals) visiting or living in Egypt. The British Embassy’s area of responsibility consists of all Egypt.

These pages will give you information about registering a birth or death, procedures required for getting married here in Egypt, registering your presence with the Embassy if you are a resident or visitor, and our notarial services. We also explain what we can do for you, as well as some things that we cannot do. We include some contacts who may be able to help with problems where we cannot.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office holds and uses data for the purposes notified to the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act 1998 (which may be consulted at Information Commissioner). Such personal data may be disclosed to other UK Government Departments and public authorities.

Consular guidance leaflets produced by FCO, London

The FCO and Direct Gov websites have a wealth of information for British Nationals thinking of moving abroad or currently living abroad. They cover a range of topics from education and health to pensions and pets.

Please take a look at our Support for British nationals abroad: A guide’ publication at http://www.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/pdf/2855621/support-for-british-nationals-abroad. The guide provides information on the support and advice we can give to British nationals abroad.
