How we can help
The British Consulate-General in Alexandria represents the British Government and its interests in the Governorates of Alexandria, Beheira, Dakahila, Damietta, Gharbeih, Kafr-el-Sheikh and Marsa Matruh.
Although the Consulate-General carries out similar work to that of the Embassy, it concentrates on two main areas of activity, which are as follows:
Trade and Investment: We support a large number of British companies who undertake business with Northern Egypt and assist promoting trade and investment with the UK. Important business sectors include agriculture, chemicals, education, energy, marine, pharmaceuticals, ports and textiles. 40% of Egyptian industry is located in the district.
Consular and Passport Services: We look after the interests of British citizens resident and visiting the district. The Consulate-General undertakes the full range of consular and passport services including the processing of British passports, registering of births and deaths together with performing notarial acts. We are trustees of two British Protestant cemeteries in Alexandria and hold their burial registers.
