Visas for the UK 

The Visa team of the British Embassy is responsible for making decisions on UK visa applications in Egypt. To do this we work alongside a commercial partner, Worldbridge, which operates UK Visa Application Centres in Cairo and Alexandria. In 2007 we processed nearly 28,000 visa applications lodged in Egypt. The Visa Section is also the regional 'hub' for applications lodged at the British Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan which are then sent to Cairo for processing. In 2007 over 8000 applications for UK Visas were made in Khartoum. Our aim is to provide a high quality service to our customers which is fast, fair and professional while maintaining effective control of UK borders. To read more click here.

Help for British Nationals and passport services  

Services we can provide to British nationals

·        issuing replacement passports;

·        offering legalisation and notarial services;

·        providing information about transferring funds;

·        providing appropriate help if you have suffered rape or serious assault, are a victim of other crime, or are in hospital;

·        helping people with mental illness;

·        providing details of local lawyers, interpreters and hospital and funeral directors;

·        doing all we properly can to contact you within 24 hours of being told that you have been detained;

·        offering support and help in a range of other cases, such as child abductions, death of relatives overseas, missing people and kidnapping;

·        contacting family or friends for you if you want; and

·        making special arrangements in cases of terrorism, civil disturbances or natural disasters.

UK Trade and Investment  

The role of the Trade & Investment teams at the British Embassy Cairo and the Consulate-General Alexandria is to develop British business interests in Egypt. We help UK companies succeed in the Egyptian market through a range of services, including free briefings by sector specialists, impartial advice on the economic and business climate, and chargeable services such as our popular Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS). Press and Public Affairs

The Press and Public Affairs team is responsible for providing information about the UK to the Egyptian media and members of the public. We issue press releases, arrange press conferences and briefings for senior Embassy staff and high-level British visitors, and publicise key statements and speeches by British Ministers. We also hold a wide range of materials about life in modern Britain, its culture, heritage and traditions, as well as background papers on key domestic and foreign policy issues. PPA also offer access to UK information services, press releases, images, details on recent events and speeches. PPA section is also the main point of contact for general enquiries about Britain.
