Visas for the UK

How to apply for a UK visa in Egypt

Where can I get information?

You can find out whether you need a visa and how to apply through the Visa Application Centre (VAC) website. The  VAC is operated by a commercial company chosen by UK Border Agency and the British Embassy in Egypt to administer the visa scheme on our behalf.

"Please note that the Embassy is unable to provide visa information to personal callers. Please contact WorldBridge as described above."

The VAC also provides information, supplied and approved by UK Border Agency, by e-mail and phone. The number for telephone enquiry line is 0163354906. Email enquiries can be made by clicking the "Send an Email Enquiry" link on the VAC website.

Where can I get further advice?

The VAC and its staff can't give you advice on how to complete your application, or what type of visa you should apply for. More information on visas and Immigration issues can be found on the UK Border Agency website. If you need further help with your application, or advice about the UK's immigration rules and requirements, you may need to contact a qualified professional immigration adviser or lawyer. In the UK, these are immigration advisers regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner or legally qualified professionals regulated by designated professional bodies. Their websites are:

Law Society of England and Wales

Law Society of Scotland

Law Society of Northern Ireland
Institute of Legal Executives

How do I submit my application?

The Visa Application Centres in both Cairo and Alexandria operate an appointment system for submitting applications and giving biometrics.
-  To make an appointment for submitting your application to the VAC in Zamalek, Cairo you should follow the links on the VAC website or call 0163354906. The online application process is quick and easy and will speed up your appointment at the VAC. To apply online go to UK Border Agency website. You can also pay online using a credit card.
-  Applications at the Alexandria Micro-VAC must be made and paid for online. As part of the application process you will be prompted to make an appointment to go to the Micro-VAC to give your biometrics.

Who decides whether I will get a visa?

UK Border Agency staff in the Embassy will process and decide your visa application. The VAC and its staff play no part in the outcome of your visa application and cannot influence it in any way. If any member of staff employed by the VAC says they can influence your application, you should tell the British Embassy as soon as possible.
