Under the Bilateral Programme Budget, the British Embassy in Cairo funded two projects on climate change in FY 2007/08. The first project provided a two day awareness workshop to sixty Egyptian journalists specialised in reporting climate news. The training was carried out by the Arab Media Forum for Environment & Development at Al Ahram Centre.

The second project involved sending two Egyptian climate scientists from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Environment to attend a workshop in Nairobi organised by the Met Office's Haley Centre to train on a regional climate change modelling system- PRECIS.
